On hearing that a baby is about to become a member of your family, you realize that your life is going to alter, both in the short and long term. There are many factors to consider before the baby arrives, and the time seems to vanish, not giving the opportunity for all problems to be solved. Obviously there will be the decision of when the mummy actually leaves the company, will she work until just prior to when the baby is due, or will she leave before then? What is going to happen once the baby arrives? Will the mummy take a career break to look after the baby, mothers can now be away from work for about a year without prejudice, or will she return to work as soon as possible and dad take time off with the baby?

In some instances decisions reached before the baby arrives can change drastically once you hold that baby in your arms. It could be you no longer wish to go out to work, leaving the rearing of your precious new addition to some stranger. However, if you need the wages, you will need to look at alternative ways of gaining cash.

Is there a possibility that your current employers would let you Work From Home? This would be a great opportunity for you to persist with the work you know so well, while getting the chance to know your baby, but it is not possible in every case. It may be that you could run your own Internet Business, in the same line of work as you are presently doing for someone else. It could be during the period of maternity leave, it would be wise to research these options. If this could not work, perhaps it would be possible to broaden your horizons. A look at the Online Jobs available could give you a lead towards a new career which fits in with your new family life.

Would you choose for both husband and wife to Work From Home eventually? The months of maternity leave, while you are still getting some money from mum’s current employer could give the cushion to get the new Internet Business off the ground. This may mean that once maternity leave is up, your Internet Business is also fully set up.

It could be there would be training required in order to carry out this new business. Investing the time while on maternity leave to take on the training could be seen as a very prudent move. Even if once the maternity leave is over, the mummy needs to go back to work for a little while, hopefully father would be able to have carried out his period of notice and be able to Work From Home over this period, giving him the opening to spend time with the baby.

The move from being a couple who enjoyed nights out and the daily work routine to being loving, caring parents who love spending time with their baby and prefer to work with Online Jobs, leaving the ratrace behind could be almost seamless. Whatever decisions you make career-wise, ensure you take every moment possible to enjoy time with your baby, they grow up far too quickly and you will wish you had enjoyed them more.
